Helena was guest of honour at the opening of the exhibition of costumes from Czech films for children which are well-known in Germany, Poland and other countries. She performed 3 songs - one of them in German lanugage. Lots of German and international Helena fans came to see their star singing. The fans represented many countries as of course Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Sweden and USA.

Helena live at Lucerna, 19 December 2009

Two sold-out concerts at the Lucerna concert hall in Prague confirm once again that Helena is the biggest pop star in Czech Republic. Even the presence of hundreds of international fans from Germany, Russia, Sweden or Poland confirms that she is one of the biggest stars in Central Europa as well. One of the Russian fans spent two nights and one whole day on the train from Moscow to Prague only to see Helena on stage. After the show it was time to take the same train back...

The new show performed by the star during the two sold-out nights at the Lucerna Concert Hall in Prague features Helena at her best with both old hits and brand new songs released about four weeks ago on her new album "You stay here with me". The show has some absolutely stunning surprises as for instance Helena's dance performance of "Sir Duke" with 7 young tapdancers!

The concert starts at 7 pm and ends after 11 pm - the giant show lasts 4 hours! Helena is dancing and singing and the audience does not want her to finish... She sings of course her evergreens as her version of ABBA's The Winner Takes It All, Lasku ma ja stunu, Cervena reka...

She is accompanied by a very good band and proffesional and talented three girls in the choir. Special guests: No Name and Sarka Vankova.

The audience loves Helena and Helena loves her audience. She is the best selling Czech female artist ever and still after more than 40 years on stage the Top 5 singer in Czech Republic who sells out large arenas. Hard working and ambitious - beautiful and full of energy

The release party

The release party for the new album - 23 November 2009, the Hybernia Theatre - Prague.

The new album out now

The new studio album entitled: "Zustavas tu se mnou" ("You stay here with me") was released on Monday 23 November. The album contains 15 new songs and one bonus track - the song from the musical "Mona Lisa" in which Helena played one of the parts in 2009 in the Broadway theatre in Prague. The songs on the new album represent lots of musical styles from pop ballads to South American rhythms as well as modern pop and rock. Helena even decided to make a cover on the old hit "No more Tears" performed originally by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer - here together with Bara Basikova. Even an Billy Joel song "She's Always a Woman" got finally its Czech version performed by Helena. She recorded the song for the first time back in 1978 in German language for her album with the songs of Billy Joel in West Germany.

The booklet features beautiful photos taken in Greece at the end of October 2009. Totally the album contains 59 minutes and 47 seconds of new music performed by Helena.

TV Ocko - the biggest gay personality award 2009

Helena was a special guest in the 1-hour-special "Inbox" on TV Ocko on 28 October where she was talking about her new DVD/CD Live and the upcoming new studio album.

At the beginning of the week Helena was awarded with the Gay Award 2009 as the biggest personality in Czech Republic. It is well-known that Helena is probably the most loved pop singer in the gay world along with another Czech diva Hana Zagorova. The award was a very happy surprise for the singer.

Helena on prime-time TV

On Friday 16 October Helena appeared on Czech TV in the one of the most popular shows "Relax, please". She gave an in-depth interview where she answered the questions about the Golden Kids affair, getting older and finally the most important the forthcoming brand new studio album which will be released this autumn. As a bonus she performed live one of the newest songs "Nothing's gonna part us".

New photo sessions were taken on the Creta island in Greece a couple of weeks ago. More new photos will be very soon published on raffem.com.

DVD+CD

The long-awaited live DVD + CD saw its release on 21 September 2009. The DVD contains whole concert from 21 December 2008 at Lucerna in Prague - totally 35 songs performed by Helena and her guests Jitka Zelenkova, Monika Absalonova and Michal David. The concert was absolutely stunning and the team behind the DVD managed to catch the feeling very well. Helena's voice was crystal clear and as usual she made a great performance. The CD features 15 songs taken from the concert - see the tracking list below.

Helena risked her life

Helena is touring in Czech Republic and Slovakia with her show "Recital". On 5 September she had concert in Zatec attended by more than 10 000 fans which was much more than arena's capacity. Helena was forced to disappear immediately after the concert as there was a big risk that someone could be hurt trying to meet the star.

New Helena box

New CD box entitled "Golden Collection" was released in May by Universal in Czech Republic. The box contains 4 CDs with 81 songs featuring Helena's greatest hits as well as rare recordings. Each CD has its own title: CD 1 Greatest Hits; CD 2 Unforgettable duets; CD 3 Sladke mameni (the same as the title of Helena's smash hit from 1983 & 2003); CD 4 I will go on.

Undoubtedly a real rarity for Helena fans.

Helena on MDR

Helena was one of the three pop stars (with Karel Gott and Jiri Korn) who guided in Prague on Saturday 2 May on the German TV channel MDR. The show "Prager Verführungen" hosted by Kim Fischer and Johann Lafer was broadcasted on prime time between 20.15 and 24.00. Lots of rare videos with Helena singing in German were shown during the evening.

Lucerna with surprise

This year there will be two concerts at Lucerna. This decision was taken by the MM Agency Prague after the last year’s experience with the Helena concert beening sold-out many weeks before and the demand on tickets was still very high. Annual concerts will take place on 19th and 20th December and the tickets are already available in Ticketpro.

The special guests invited to the show are the group No Name and Sarka Vankova and the artists will be accompanied by Charlie Band.

Special bonus
… Helena has prepared a surprise for real music lovers. Inspired by the Barbra Streisand show she decided to release a limited edition of tickets which give access to the afternoon’s sound check and a little party before the show where you can taste food prepared from favourite recipes of the star of the evening.
This special ticket including the sound check and the little party at the restaurant JAVA (nearby Lucerna) costs CZK 5000.
 

The premiere of "Mona Lisa"

The second premiere of the new Czech musical "Mona Lisa" at the Broadway theatre in Prague on 5 March featured Helena in the role of Caterina de' Gherardini. The role played by Helena is not the main role in the musical but the audience seemed to misunderstand the situation... The Queen of Czech Pop received the biggest applause and even most of the flowers went to... Helena as well. Raffem.com is not surprised :-)

Helena plays in the spring 2009 following evenings: 6 - 8.3., 12 & 13.3, 9 - 12.4, 16 & 17.4.

New Helena book in Poland

The Helena memories book "Wspominam i niczego nie zaluje" (I rememeber and do not regret anything) will be issued in Poland in the spring 2009.

Helena's big success

Helena says to raffem.com: "For the first time in my life I got standing ovations after the first part of the concert. It's incredible". There was around 4000 thousand people at Lucerna on Sunday 21 December and the show was sold out. Due to the great success of Helena's Christmas concert there will be two evenings at Lucerna in December next year.

Helena will continue her tour entitled "Recital" with one exclusive concert at Zofin Concert Hall in Prague in June 2009.

The new studio album will be released in early spring 2009. Helena will continue recording sessions in her studio in Belgium at the beginning of 2009.

Helena's manager Martin Michal says to raffem that the year 2009 will be extremely busy for the artist. Both Helena and Martin send warm greetings and a big thank you to all Helena supporters and fans from all over the world who created great atmosphere at Lucerna last Sunday. Whole concert will be released on DVD in 2009.
